Aiken Land Conservancy Hike Series: Janet Harrison High Pond Heritage Preserve

Join Aiken Land Conservancy Executive Director, Peter Kleinhenz, for an exploration of South Carolina’s rarest habitat type, the “high pond”. We will learn more about this truly unique type of Carolina Bay and explore the 30-acre site thoroughly. This is the only accessible place to view this habitat on the planet and, despite the small size of the property, it contains many interesting features.
This hike will consist of some bushwhacking and, potentially, wet feet! This is a true exploration hike! Due to the sensitive nature of the site and limited parking, space will be limited to 20 participants. Please let us know if you plan to carpool.
