Aiken Land Conservancy Hike Series: Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site

The first hike of the season will take place at the Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site in conjunction with State Parks, Recreation, and Tourism staff that work on site. The approximately 2.4-mile route will wind through mixed pine and hardwood forest, past significant historical structures and old trees, and around a large pond with some excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities.

This hike is kid-friendly, so please feel free to bring your little ones along. However, parental discretion is advised since we will be discussing some uncomfortable, but important, topics related to the history of the property. A bathroom and gift shop are available at the visitor center. Excellent tours are available of the historic house and associated outbuildings. The first tour after our hike begins promptly at 11. It is strongly recommended that you make advance reservations for the house tour ahead of time by calling (803) 827-1473.
