Aiken Land Conservancy Hike Series: Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site

February 17 @ 9:15 am - 11:00 am

The next hike in the ALC Hike Series will take place at the Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site. The approximately 2.4-mile hike will pass through mixed pine and hardwood forest, among significant historical structures and old trees, and around a large pond with some excellent wildlife-viewing opportunities.

This hike is kid-friendly, so please feel free to bring your little ones along. However, parental discretion is advised since we will be discussing some uncomfortable, but important, topics related to the history of the property. A bathroom and gift shop are available at the visitor center. Excellent tours are available of the historic plantation house and slave cabin for those interested in continuing to explore the historical buildings after the hike. The first tour after our hike begins promptly at 11. It is strongly recommended that you make advance reservations for the house tour ahead of time by calling (803) 827-1473.

Parking is available near the visitor center. Gates to the park do not open until 9:00 AM, hence the later start time.
