Acquired in 2024 with generous funding from the South Carolina Conservation Bank, Aiken Land Conservancy safeguarded this property until it was transferred to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources in October of 2025. The property was incorporated into the neighboring Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve for the public to enjoy. The Korn Tract consists of 302 acres in northeastern Aiken County near Windsor and is part of the Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve. Gopher tortoises have been documented on the Korn Tract along with at least 12 other rare plant and animal species, including the federally-threatened red-cockaded woodpecker. The property also contains 1.7 miles of frontage on Pond Branch, a crucial tributary of the South Fork of the Edisto River.
