The Korn Tract

302 Acres

The Korn Tract consists of 302 acres in northeastern Aiken County near Windsor, and is adjacent to the 1,700-acre Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve. Gopher tortoises have been documented on the Korn Tract along with at least 12 other rare plant and animal species, including the federally-endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. The property also contains 1.7 miles of frontage on Pond Branch, a crucial tributary of the South Fork of the Edisto River.

Acquired in 2024 with generous funding from the South Carolina Conservation Bank, Aiken Land Conservancy is currently safeguarding this property. Eventually, this property will be transferred to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and incorporated into the neighboring Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve for the public to enjoy.
