Aiken Land Conservancy Hike Series: Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve
April 27 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Free
Join Aiken Land Conservancy Stewardship Coordinator, Ryne Huggins, on a hike to the Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve. Ryne will lead participants on a 3-mile walk to observe this incredible example of longleaf pine savanna just outside of Aiken. We will observe signs of gopher tortoises, if not the tortoises themselves, and will search for some of the other unique species that call this property home.
This hike is kid-friendly, and we encourage you to bring them with you to foster an appreciation for nature and hopefully see a gopher tortoise, in person. To protect the delicate environment and its wildlife, we kindly ask that you leave your dogs at home for this hike. Thank you for understanding!
Parking is limited, so this hike is limited to the first 30 people that register on our website. We ask that only one person register per car if you are riding together as a group.
