Aiken Land Conservancy Hike Series: Barnwell State Park

April 25 @ 9:15 am - 11:15 am

The next hike in the ALC Hike Series will take place at Barnwell State Park, where we will explore a surprising variety of habitats in a relatively short distance. Along the way, we’ll learn about the park’s history and, as always, keep an eye out for interesting plants and wildlife.

We will hike the Fern Hill Nature Trail and take a closer look at the positive impacts of a recent prescribed burn made possible through the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Burning for Birds Conservation Collaborative. You will even get the chance to be a citizen scientist by helping to survey for a few key, fire-adapted bird species.

Parking is available near the park office. Gates to the park do not open until 9:00 AM, hence the later start time. Restrooms are available near the parking lot.
